SAINT CALLISTUS I
Pope and Martyr
SIMPLE / WHITE
A Christian slave of Rome, Callistus was ordained by Pope St. Zephyrinus, whom he succeeded as pope in the year 217. As deacon he was guardian of the Christian cemetery on the Appian Way which is still known by his name. While he was vigorously opposed to heresy, his charitable attitude toward repentant sinners incurred the wrath of contemporary rigorists.

ReplyDeleteI'm compiling a pew booklet for a Requiem Mass taking place this Thursday (a NO Mass with sung Latin Propers).
Father has requested the booklet include English translations for the Introit, Gradual, Tract, and Communion. Could you help me, please, or point me in the right direction? I am most grateful for any assistance you might offer.
Blessings--Nana
Hi Nana,
ReplyDeleteWell my site is based on the Traditional Latin Mass and I get all the Propers from an old 1950's Missal that is no longer in print, so I couldn't help you with the Novus Ordo Mass.
This site http://knoxlatinmass.net/wdtprs/ does have the Sundays in Latin/English for the whole year which can be said on a week day but I don't know where you would find a Saints Memoral or Feast Day propers. Actually this Thursday 10/16/08, the Propers for the 28th Sunday in Ordinary time should be used. Here is the translation:
28th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Collect:
Tua nos, quaesumus, Domine, gratia
semper et praeveniat et sequatur,
ac bonis operibus iugiter praestet esse intentos.
Super Oblata:
Suscipe, Domine,
fidelium preces cum oblationibus hostiarum,
ut, per haec piae devotionis officia,
ad caelestem gloriam transeamus.
Post Communionem:
Maiestatem tuam, Domine, suppliciter
deprecamur,
ut, sicut nos Corporis et Sanguinis sacrosancti
pascis alimento,
ita divinae naturae facias esse consortes.
We beg, O Lord, that your grace
may always both go before and follow after us,
and hence continuously grant us to be intent
upon good works.
Take up, O Lord,
the prayers of the faithful together with
offerings of sacrificial victims
so that, through these services of dutiful
devotedness,
we may pass over unto heavenly glory.
We suppliantly beseech your majesty, O Lord,
that, just as you feed us now upon the provisions
of the most holy Body and Blood,
just so you may make us to be the partakers of
the divine nature.
