WITHIN THE OCTAVE OF CORPUS CHRISTI

SAINT JOHN OF SAN FACUNDO
Confessor

SAINTS BASILIDES, CYRINUS, NABOR, & NAZARIUS
Martyrs

DOUBLE / WHITE
This Spanish saint derives his surname from the Benedictine abbey of San Facundo in the kingdom of Leon, where he received his early education. Ordained to the priesthood in 1445 and having won a great reputation in Salamanca as a preacher and director of souls, John entered the community of Augustinian Canons. As a monk he succeeded in ending many of the baneful feuds that divided the young noblemen of Salamanca.
