August News: A Sign in the Heavens - Institute of Christ the King Newsletter

August News
A Sign in the Heavens
"Rejoice, O heavens, and you that dwell therein!  Woe to the earth and to the sea, because the devil is come down unto you.  Filled with fury, he knows his time is short."
Apocalypse 12:12
Dear Friends in Christ our King,

We read in the revelation given to St. John that "a great sign appeared in the heavens: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and a crown of twelve stars around her head" (Apocalypse 12:1).  We are then told that she is travailing as she is about to give birth.  To our horror, there she is confronted by an infernal dragon, who seeks to devour her child once he is born, and yet we are relieved when we hear that the child was taken up into heaven and placed upon a throne.  What is this mystical sign?  Who is this woman?  Who is her child?  This is none other than the beginning of the great battle for the salvation of souls.

As we begin the month of August, dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, let us recognize our Blessed Mother's integral role in the economy of salvation not only as the Mother of our Lord and Redeemer, but also as our very own heavenly Mother, bringing us into the life of grace and nourishing us therein.  As Mother of the Church, Mary Immaculate brings forth each one of us with great patience and longsuffering, in order that we may not be devoured by the devil, always prowling as a lion, but rather be taken up into heaven, where we shall rejoice with the angels and saints in the Love of the Most Holy Trinity.  Let us turn to Mary for protection!

In these confusing and uncertain times, one thing is clear; one thing is certain: we were not created by God almighty for this world, but for the world to come.  Our time on this earth is but a test for eternity.  Let us therefore not cling faithlessly over the affairs of this world, its vain pomp and vulgar pleasure.  Let us too then not fret aimlessly over the threat of their loss; rather, let us simply seek to do the Will of our heavenly Father each day, asking Him humbly to know what His Will is so that we may so do it will love.  May we continue confidently to allow divine Providence to guide us along the path that will lead us not to comfort and security in this life, but rather to the eternal and everlasting joy of the life to come with Him in heaven.

It will be through the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Immaculate Mother, that we will persevere in the faith during these difficult times.  Let us make sure then that it is for the greater glory of her Divine Son, Jesus Christ our King - and not the vindication of our own self love - that we likewise persevere in both humility and charity.  This is the sign in the heavens for which we hope.  This is the spiritual battle about to begin.
This August, as we celebrate the feasts of Our Lady's glorious Assumption into heaven and that of her Immaculate Heart, let us have great solace in our Blessed Mother's own words: "In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph."  By God's grace and Mary's help, may we remain focused on our Lord Jesus Christ, may we remain faithful to His Bride the Church, and may we remain hopeful and full of divine charity, which is the bond of true perfection.

Assuring you of my continued prayers united in the triumphal Heart of Mary Immaculate, I remain,

Yours faithfully in Christ our King,

New American Priests Return Home
First Masses & Priestly Blessings
The newly ordained priests of the Institute return home after their ordinations to offer Masses of Thanksgiving for their families and friends.  Our four new American canons return stateside to do the same before receiving their first assignments at the Institute's General Chapter meeting at the end of the month.

Rev. Canons Christian Juneau (Nashville), David Le (Anaheim), Nicholas Phillips (Omaha), and Bryan Silvey (Kansas City) return to their home dioceses in August after being ordained by His Eminence, Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke.

Please pray for these newly ordained priest that they remain fervent with the zeal of their ordination all their life long, growing in holiness to serve the Church for many years for the salvation of countless souls.  Ad multos annos!

Building Our Provincial Shrine of Christ the King
Phase II Scheduled to Begin
Conceptual rendering of the church's finished interior after Phase III
Having received the city permits after waiting nearly 300 days during last year's shut-down, we are now eager to begin Phase II of building our Provincial Shrine of Christ the King as the Institute's Headquarters in the United States.

Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of thousands of benefactors, who desire to visibly honor our Lord Jesus Christ as King in our nation today, we are able to begin the first part of Phase II construction!

Part 1 of Phase II will provide a 6” thick, structural concrete slab to the church’s narthex, nave, sanctuary, and basement as a foundation for the subsequent steps in Phase II.  This scope of work includes the excavation and grading of the present interior, installation of utility services, the routing and installation of all electrical conduit in the floor (in preparation for subsequent running of electrical wires), the routing and installation of all interior plumbing systems, and the installation of the radiant heating system into the floor prior to pouring the massive concrete slab.

The total cost of this first part of Phase II is $765,000.

Would you like to invest in this important project to help ensure the stability and growth of the Institute in the United States of America?  We need your help!
With your generous help, we hope to begin Part 1 of Phase II by October 2021, completing this important step before year’s end.

You are helping to build a true throne for Jesus Christ our King in the heart of America.  May He, whom you honor with your offering in faith, bless you abundantly and protect you in these turbulent times!  Together, let us put Christ's house first.

Building Up the Body of Christ

Our friend Tony from Florida says it best...

I've never heard anything from an Institute priest that was not 100% Catholic!  Not only do they preach the truths of our Faith, but they do it with true Christian joy and a real love of God for the sanctification of souls.

They builds up the Church and at a time when everything is trying to tear her down.  We need the Institute and the Institute needs our help.  That's why I financially support the Institute of Christ the King: to help them continue to build up the Body of Christ.
