OUR LADY MEDIATRIX OF ALL GRACES; SAINT ANGELA MERICI (1540 A.D.)

OUR LADY MEDIATRIX OF ALL GRACES

[In some Places and Congregations]

SAINT ANGELA MERICI
Virgin

WHITE/

"By the will of God all graces come to us through Our Lady." Continually efforts are made to establish this point of doctrine of Mary's mediation. Leo XIII declared in his Encyclical Letter of September 22, A.D. 1891: "We may affirm that nothing, by the will of God, is given to us without Mary's mediation, in such a way that just as no one can approach the Almighty Father but through His Son, likewise no one so to speak, can approach Christ but through His Mother."

INTROIT (Heb. 4:16)

Let us go with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace in seasonable aid. Ps. 120:1 I have lifted up mine eyes to the mountains, whence help shall come to me. Glory to the Father . . .

COLLECT

O Lord Jesus Christ, our Mediator with the Father, who has appointed the most Blessed Virgin, Thy Mother, and our mediatrix with Thee, grant that whosoever shall approach Thee for some favor, may rejoice at obtaining all things through her, who livest and reignest . . .

Commemoration of SAINT ANGELA MERICI
St. Angela adopted the rule of St. Francis, and started to teach the ignorant poor children in her native town. Later founded the Order of the Ursulines uniting "evangelical poverty to the merit of virginity. She died A.D. 1540.

O God, who through blessed Angela didst cause a new society of holy Virgins to grow up within the Church, grant through her intercession that we may lead lives of angels, so that shedding all earthly interests we may be found worthy to enjoy everlasting happiness. Through our Lord . . .

LESSON (Isaiah 55: 1-5)

All you that thirst, come to the waters: and you that have no money make haste, buy, and eat: come ye, buy wine and milk without money, and without any price.

Why do you spend money for that which is not breed, and your labour for that which doth not satisfy you? Hearken diligently to me, and eat that which is good, and your soul shall be delighted in fatness.

Incline your ear and come to me: hear and your soul shall live, and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, the faithful mercies of David.

Behold I have given him for a witness to the people, for a leader and a master to the Gentiles.

Behold thou shalt call a nation, which thou knewest not: and the nations that knew not thee shall run to thee, because of the Lord thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel, for he hath glorified thee.

GRADUAL (Eccl. 25:26)

In me is all grace of the way and of the truth, in me is all hope of life and of virtue. Come over to me all you who desire me, and be filled with my fruits. Alleluia, alleluia. Hail, thou Mother of mercy, thou Mother of hope and of grace, O Mary. Alleluia.

GOSPEL (John 19: 25-27)

25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus, his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalen.

26 When Jesus therefore had seen his mother and the disciple standing whom he loved, he saith to his mother: Woman, behold thy son.

27 After that, he saith to the disciple: Behold thy mother. And from that hour, the disciple took her to his own.

OFFERTORY

Be mindful, O Virgin Mother of God, when thou standest in the sight of the Lord, to speak good thins for us, and to turn away His anger from us.

SECRET

By the prayers of Thy Mother and our Mediatrix, O Lord, we beseech Thee, that the offering of this sacrifice, through the bestowal of Thy grace may perfect us into an eternal offering to Thee, Who livest and reignest . . .
